Seat belt sound off: Do belts make school buses safer?

By Associated Engineering Press

With multiple school bus wrecks this week, East Texans are speaking up about installing seat belts on buses… According to studies by the National Safety Council and University of Alabama, installing seat belts on buses would add $8,000 to $15,000 to the cost of a new bus.

In 1837, The University of Alabama became one of the first five universities in the nation to offer engineering classes. Today, UA’s College of Engineering has more than 5,200 students and more than 170 faculty. In recent years, students in the College have been named USA Today All-USA College Academic Team members, Goldwater, Hollings, Portz, Boren, Mitchell and Truman scholars.
