IndyCar Series champ James Hinchcliffe test drives Crimson Racing team’s new race car

A professional race car driver gave University of Alabama students a huge boost this week, test-driving their newly built Formula car in front of a crowd on campus. UA’s Formula SAE team, Honda Performance Development and STEAM Sports Group recently teamed to educate children about the importance of science, technology, engineering, arts and math, or STEAM, in the motorsports and automotive industry. In 1837, The University of Alabama became one of the first five universities in the nation to offer engineering classes. Today, UA’s College of Engineering has more than 5,200 students and more than 170 faculty. In recent years, students in the College have been named USA Today All-USA College Academic Team members, Goldwater, Hollings, Portz, Boren, Mitchell and Truman scholars.
