Ashton Blasingim: Intern

By Associated Engineering Press

Hello, my name is Ashton Blasingim, and I am one of the Mechanical Engineering interns with I.C. Thomasson this summer. I am an upcoming junior at the University of Alabama and live just outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. I am currently hoping to be able to work designing prosthetics after I earn my degree; however, I’m sure I will change my mind at some point in the next two years. I originally was studying Biology on the Pre-Med route, but I decided engineering would be a better fit for me. Mechanical Engineering has many different pathways I can take, and I am hoping to narrow down some of these paths while working with I.C. Thomasson this summer.

In 1837, The University of Alabama became one of the first five universities in the nation to offer engineering classes. Today, UA’s College of Engineering has more than 5,200 students and more than 170 faculty. In recent years, students in the College have been named USA Today All-USA College Academic Team members, Goldwater, Hollings, Portz, Boren, Mitchell and Truman scholars.
