UA and Auburn receive grant to help with safety on Alabama roads

New tonight, safety on Alabama’s highways at the center of a more than $3 million grant. Governor Ivey awarded the funding today to Auburn University, The University of Alabama and the state’s department of public health. We are told the money will be used by the schools to create media campaigns aimed at drivers. The department of health will use its money to keep a database of injuries suffered during wrecks, which is federally required. In 1837, The University of Alabama became one of the first five universities in the nation to offer engineering classes. Today, UA’s College of Engineering has more than 5,200 students and more than 170 faculty. In recent years, students in the College have been named USA Today All-USA College Academic Team members, Goldwater, Hollings, Portz, Boren, Mitchell and Truman scholars.
