Students at the University of Alabama are continuing outreach efforts to state schools during the COVID-19 pandemic through online lessons. The group of students called UASpace has created lessons using Alabama math and science standards that teach about space, satellites and space exploration. The lessons are available on an open Google Drive, and are an extension of their efforts this school year to bring space-centered lessons into classrooms in rural areas of the state.
In 1837, The University of Alabama became one of the first five universities in the nation to offer engineering classes. Today, UA’s College of Engineering has more than 5,200 students and more than 170 faculty. In recent years, students in the College have been named USA Today All-USA College Academic Team members, Goldwater, Hollings, Portz, Boren, Mitchell and Truman scholars.
