By Alana Norris

The international ransomware cyberattack has created serious problems in over 150 countries because of the threat. The University of Alabama has been keeping a close watch to make sure its network is safe. Experts at The Center for Advanced Public Safety have been scanning all of their servers to make sure the cyberattack has not infected any systems or software on campus. The school has not had any reports of any viruses so far. Alabama’s Center for Advanced Public Safety develops software for state and federal agencies.

In 1837, The University of Alabama became one of the first five universities in the nation to offer engineering classes. Today, UA’s College of Engineering has more than 5,200 students and more than 170 faculty. In recent years, students in the College have been named USA Today All-USA College Academic Team members, Goldwater, Hollings, Portz, Boren, Mitchell and Truman scholars.
