Engineering Doctoral Candidate Will Guin recently won the “People’s Choice” award at the 2014 Council of Southern Graduate Schools Three Minute (3MT) competition. He was also the winner at UA’s 2013 3MT competition. Will’s presentation featured “pop-tubes,” which use microwaves to create a more effective airframe skin for Boeing 787 aircraft.

You can learn about the rest of UA’s 3MT winners from the UA Graduate School.

In 1837, The University of Alabama became one of the first five universities in the nation to offer engineering classes. Today, UA’s College of Engineering has more than 5,200 students and more than 170 faculty. In recent years, students in the College have been named USA Today All-USA College Academic Team members, Goldwater, Hollings, Portz, Boren, Mitchell and Truman scholars.
