The cleanest room at The University of Alabama

By Associated Engineering Press

College campuses aren’t always known for their cleanliness; but WIAT 42 got a look inside the cleanest room at the University of Alabama, the new microfabrication facility.

The brand new facility is where scientists can make very tiny devices that can be applied towards hard to reach areas, like the inside of your computer.

In the facility it is very important the clean bays control any airborne particles, because one micro-device can be destroyed by a dust particle. If a dust particle lands on top of one of the devices it can completely wipe it out. Sources: WIAT CBS 42Al.comThe Tuscaloosa NewsWVUA

In 1837, The University of Alabama became one of the first five universities in the nation to offer engineering classes. Today, UA’s College of Engineering has more than 5,200 students and more than 170 faculty. In recent years, students in the College have been named USA Today All-USA College Academic Team members, Goldwater, Hollings, Portz, Boren, Mitchell and Truman scholars.
