University of Alabama students selected for antenna design contest

A team of engineering students at the University of Alabama is one of six selected to compete in an international contest to design a portable radio system capable of locating a hidden radio transmitter in real time. The UA team is competing in the 2018 Annual Student Antenna Design Contest, held by the Antennas and Propagation Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology. In 1837, The University of Alabama became one of the first five universities in the nation to offer engineering classes. Today, UA’s College of Engineering has more than 5,200 students and more than 170 faculty. In recent years, students in the College have been named USA Today All-USA College Academic Team members, Goldwater, Hollings, Portz, Boren, Mitchell and Truman scholars.
