The Alabama Astrobotics team moved into their new lab in January. At the time, the team didn’t know the 2019 Robotic Mining Challenge would take place in the lab in May.

The University of Alabama engineering department is hosting the Robotic Mining Challenge  in Tuscaloosa. Twenty-eight teams from colleges all across the country are on campus trying to prove they are the best engineers. The Alabama Astrobotics team has won the competition five times.

In 1837, The University of Alabama became one of the first five universities in the nation to offer engineering classes. Today, UA’s College of Engineering has more than 5,200 students and more than 170 faculty. In recent years, students in the College have been named USA Today All-USA College Academic Team members, Goldwater, Hollings, Portz, Boren, Mitchell and Truman scholars.
