Though the spring semester has just begun for students at The University of Alabama, professional opportunities starting in the summer are already seeking candidates. Advocates for career development at the University say it’s never too early to start looking ahead. “The biggest mistake students make when it comes to opportunities for professional advancement is not taking advantage of all the opportunities at their fingertips on UA’s campus,” said Sara Hartley, the College of Communication and Information Sciences associate dean of undergraduate studies.

In 1837, The University of Alabama became one of the first five universities in the nation to offer engineering classes. Today, UA’s College of Engineering has more than 5,200 students and more than 170 faculty. In recent years, students in the College have been named USA Today All-USA College Academic Team members, Goldwater, Hollings, Portz, Boren, Mitchell and Truman scholars.
