University of Alabama winter graduation exercises today

By Associated Engineering Press

When Charles Williams Jr., the engineering manager for the city of Jackson, Miss., finished his undergraduate degree in civil engineering at the University of Mississippi in 1996, he didn’t plan on more school… That itch turned into a search for a doctoral program in civil engineering that eventually led him across state lines to the Capstone.

In 1837, The University of Alabama became one of the first five universities in the nation to offer engineering classes. Today, UA’s College of Engineering has more than 5,200 students and more than 170 faculty. In recent years, students in the College have been named USA Today All-USA College Academic Team members, Goldwater, Hollings, Portz, Boren, Mitchell and Truman scholars.
