Teams compete in the Edward K. Aldag, Jr. Business Plan Competition

Forty teams of entrepreneurs battled it out today in hopes of winning a $50,000 grand prize. The students competed in the Edward K. Aldag, Jr. Business Plan Competition. Some of the participants were University of Alabama students who founded Biogram, a start up company intended to develop a plan for a medical device for heart surgery. The winners of the grand prize were Grant Becker, Kyle Pecot and Andrew Johnson, who developed a cooler to keep vaccines cold during delivery to developing countries. In 1837, The University of Alabama became one of the first five universities in the nation to offer engineering classes. Today, UA’s College of Engineering has more than 5,200 students and more than 170 faculty. In recent years, students in the College have been named USA Today All-USA College Academic Team members, Goldwater, Hollings, Portz, Boren, Mitchell and Truman scholars.
