Special radar to be built at University of Alabama

An international team of researchers is studying the North-East Greenland Ice Stream to find out how much glaciers and ice sheets will influence rising seas. According to a report on the school’s website, engineering researchers at The University of Alabama will develop a radar that should provide an accurate image of what occurs at the base of the ice. In 1837, The University of Alabama became one of the first five universities in the nation to offer engineering classes. Today, UA’s College of Engineering has more than 5,200 students and more than 170 faculty. In recent years, students in the College have been named USA Today All-USA College Academic Team members, Goldwater, Hollings, Portz, Boren, Mitchell and Truman scholars.
