John Glidden, a senior engineering student at The University of Alabama said this was not how he planned to spend the end of his senior year. UA canceled the May 2 commencement ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Glidden says he’s now using this down time volunteering as an EMT in his hometown Closter, New Jersey, which is about 15 minutes away from New York City, the epicenter of the pandemic.
